Long Description: Muktuk specializes in Rookie Ranch, an ideal option for beginners. Learn to drive your own team of very friendly huskies, along the Takhini River and sections of the world-famous Yukon Quest trail.
Our goal is to enable our clients to realize their dreams and to be able to do as much as they want to with the dogs.
Trained, certified guides introduce you to the sport of mushing, and show you how to handle your sled and how to drive your team. Participants learn to harness and boot up the dogs, how to turn and brake the sled, and all the mushing commands.
After a day on the trails, guests stay in comfortable cabins, and enjoy Muktuk's excellent cuisine and great hospitality.
Rookie Ranch participants have the option of camping out for one night, of for extending their stay and camping on the Quest trails for 3 nights. They can also ice-fishing and snow-shoeing. At the end of the day, relax in our cedar sauna and catch a glimpse of the aurora borealis.
Spectacular scenery, secluded ranch just 25 minutes from downton Whitehorse.

What can I say...Thank you all so much for your welcome, we really couldn't have asked for more. The trip far exceeded our expectations and so much of our trip has really stayed with us -- I suspect it will for a long time.

Mushing Rocks! Just wanted to thank you again for an incredible experience. I am still a little sore and tired but wouldn't have missed it for the world. I do hope I can do it again. Price: 2670
Extra Price Information: For clients wishing to do Rookie Ranch on their own, there is a surcharge of $500.00.
Clients can opt to stay in town after their Rookie Ranch stay, for approximately $100 CDN.
Deposits: A deposit of $500 plus GST is required to confirm a reservation.
50% of the fees are due 90 days prior to the tour date.
The balance is due 30 days prior to departure.
Cancellations: The reservation deposit is non-refundable, but may be transferred to another tour at a later date.
If a trip is cancelled more than 21 days prior to departure, 25% of the total fee will be refunded (which is equal to half of the second payment). |

Policies: We operate with a "dogs' first" philosophy, which means that we put the welfare of the dogs first and will not do anything that jeopardizes their well-being.
Clients must provide health and dietary information prior to their arrival. They must also sign a waiver prior to travelling to Muktuk.
Guides do not take out more than 4 people in a group on Rookie Ranch trails. |
