Short Description: 3-day rafting on Colorado River/Westwater Canyon
Long Description: Westwater Canyon
Colorado River 3 Days, 2 Nights
THE WEST'S BEST SHORT WHITEWATER TRIP. Westwater Canyon is a short but spirited oar-powered trip. Guides expertly row through tricky waters with diagonal waves and swirling pools dwarfed by stunningly beautiful and unique black, gold and red canyon walls. Hikes to historic cabins, waterfalls, and Indian petroglyphs punctuate the river's course. Campsites are on the Colorado's sandy beaches surrounded by Cottonwoods. Calmer waters on the last part of the river, bordering Arches National Park, allow guests to practice their "whitewater" skills in inflatable kayaks. Westwater is our "best value" trip, simply because it requires very little transportation getting to or from the river. See Westwater Canyon Map
*Trip begins and ends in Grand Junction, CO
Testimonials: Our guides were courteous, helpful, well-groomed, extremely knowledgeable, and above all else it was obvious that they hold a passion for, and respect for the river, and truly love what they are doing. Never once did I feel that they were just 'doing their job.'
Penny Conner - Newport Beach, CA
They were knowledgeable about the region, great boatmen, incredible cooks, caring guides, and memorable entertainers.
Karin Appelbaum - Ft. Meyers, FL
These young people displayed kindness, patience, knowledge, manners, enthusiasm, and determination. They made everyone young or old, feel good. They were always ready to share their knowledge, always seemed interested in each person's life story and ready to assist the older ones¿
Dominique Legeai - N. Barrington, IL
Your guides are enthusiastic, well-educated about the region, extraordinarily hard working, unfailingly kind and helpful, and creative and funny. As someone who works in the customer service business, I appreciate how rare those qualities are. Western River is very lucky to have people like them. Every detail was expertly managed, but even more impressive, it was managed with respect for the environment and a focus on safety that was particularly reassuring.
Eve Hutcherson - Nashville, TN
From the moment I first met your team, I was greeted with a smile, taken care of with great attention to detail, given thorough explanations about procedure and safety, and then told fascinating tales about the river and its magical history. Their generosity and good spirit made all of us feel that we'd made real friends with whom we could be ourselves - in comfort and ease. The trip was filled with laughter, singing, fabulous food, fun games and first class service from beginning to end. These are memories that are truly priceless and will never be forgotten.
Lainie Sorkin - Beverly Hills - CA
Our guides were so aware of everyone's safety at all times that we were able to ride the wild rapids and hike narrow trails confidently.
Marnie Meyer - Paradise Valley, AZ
Those on your reservations staff with whom we talked and corresponded were fully cooperative and helpful and answered all our questions promptly and accurately.
James Henry - New York, NY
This trip was my second trip and just slightly better than my first which was perfect!
Vincent Allen - Lubbock, TX
What an experience!! We've been a few places and done a few things but this must be placed at the top of the list of the most awe inspiring, rush-inducing, near religious experience yet!
Steve and Pat Sessions - Lakeside, CA
The scenery was breathtaking, the food was simply delicious, the hikes were unbelievable, the rapids were quite hysterical, and the camps were pitched in postcard-perfect settings.
Steve and Jesse Sampson - Brookings, SD
