Long Description: ITINERARY 7 DAYS, 6 NIGHTS VIA SAN JOSE $ 1600 all include package
Day1 Arriving at San Jose airport I will wait for you there for transfer to Hotel, Night in San Jose or at charming DON BETO bed & breakfast in Sarcero mountains.( 6000 feet )
Day2 Early morning Transfer to Los Chiles in our car , (3.30 / 4 hours ride ) thought beautiful scenery, Mountains, Waterfall, Arenal and Poas active volcano, Coffee and sugar cane plantations..typical Local breakfast, Arriving in Los Chiles around 11am , Boat will be ready and waiting for us to start fishing immediately we will have lunch aboard and will fish till dark for Tarpon, Snook, Gar, Machaca etc.. in first class spots in Rio Frio or Cano negro NATIONAL PARK ( La lagartera, Sabogal, Playuelas...). While fishing you will enjoy real jungle scenery, rainforest, orchids, Birds, Monkeys, Iguanas, Alligators....At night we will have a Special dinner at Ecodirecta Lodge ( Unique Big River scrimps each of them 1 lb or some or our catch of the day..., You will rest at Ecodirecta Lodge in your clean comfortable hot water, Airco hotel room.On this day we may also decide to enter imediately in Nicaragua , in such a case Fishing in Nicaragua would start around 12 pm.
Day 3Breakfast at Ecodirecta, We will do the paper work for immigration, and will leave Los Chiles at 8 am. We will pass the border and enter Nicaragua aboard Julia Brava our boat via Rio Frio River...We will do the immigration work in Nicaragua on arrival in San Carlos. Nicaragua is still a very poor country but definitely everybody here officials or not are really helpful with visitors. All this simpatico surrounding our excellent relations with the authority make our trips 100% safe. It is very important than before your trip you fax us a photocopy of your passport in order we can have you Fishing Permit establish previous to your coming otherwise we would lose fishing time. A quick lunch ( You will probably be please to try the local "Bao" ) and will start fishing around 12 md . In San juan river it would be a major surprise for me if you have to wait long before the first tarpon hit, fishing will stop at dark. We will have our Dinner in town restaurant EL MIRADOR , you will rest in your simple but clean and comfortable cabin at LEYKO with fan or Airco, individual bath.
Day4 A cup of coffee at hotel, and Fishing will start at 5 am , Breakfast and Lunch aboard , or at the house of a friend of us in the jungles of Medio quesso. We will probably fish a bit there in this so beautiful jungle river, it's almost clear and very deep , some huge tarpon live there... Dinner will be at EL MIRADOR, night at CABINAS LEYKO.
Day5 Program will be almost the same than on Day4 .Note: We also may decide on Day 4 to spend the night in ALBERGUE El CASTILLO down on San Juan River ( Good fishing here also. A close town is called Saballo witch mean Tarpon in Spanish... and a lot of history, the large fort on top of the hill has been built to protect the Nicaragua lake/Granada from pirates attacks ). We also may go to the beautiful Solentiname archipelagon ( located in the lake, 40 mn by boat from San Carlos, more than 100 islands ) fishing is famous there for Rainbow bass , at the end of last year 2000 the world IGFA record for Rainbow bass has been beaten here...We would stay at very nice hotel EL MANCARON..(Note in case you decide for one of these two options please add $ 70 per person on the price )
Day6 We will start fishing early morning , Breakfast will be aboard, We will stop fishing Nicaragua around 12md We will have a typical lunch in San Carlos ( Bao...) then back to Costa Rica, we may fish again on our way back on Rio frio we will reach Los Chiles and then transfer to San jose ..for a night at your hotel close to the airport.
Day7 Breakfast. We will have your transfer to airport organize.

Sportfishing is a tradition in San Carlos..the first Tarpon Tournament as been organised 60 years ago , Larry Hustler aboard my boat "Julia Brava"did win the prize for the more Tarpon and more accumulated weight in the 46th Edition in September 2001.
We are fishing saltwater World class fish: Tarpon ( 80lb /250lb+ ) Snook ( 15lb- 50lb+ ) in quiet fresh water at 120 miles from sea? Strange situation..!.
Fish are so abundant here than in the seventies a lot of investigation has been made by Scientifics from famous Universities..among them Thomas Thornson from Nebraska University, many persons in San Carlos remember of the Hydrofoil of Commandant Jacques Yves Cousteau he also did investigate here
Nowadays Tarpon, Snook, Gar, Machaca, Rainbow bass, are still abundant, the area is very quiet slowly opening to tourism. Sportfishing start on almost Virgin Territories..We fish mostly the Upper part of San Juan River, San Pancho, Santa fe, Medio Quesso, down to El Castillo , also the so beautiful Solentiname Archipelago on the great Nicaragua Lake...The area is very large we still have a lot of spots to discover..
Obviously fishing is also top in Rio Frio and Cano negro in Costa rica who belong to the same hydrologic system.
