Long Description: Discover with us a hidden paradise on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Our small hotel was designed and constructed with great care to meet ecological standards. It is situated directly on a pristine natural beach, embedded in a vast plantation of malayan dwarf coconut palm trees. Here we offer you a unique experience with nature and a place to relax allowing you to leave the pressures of everyday life behind. ECO PARAISO is a perfect getaway!
Just imagine watching pelicans or flamingos flying across the skies or even sea turtles when they come ashore to lay their eggs or hatch two months later, strolling along the beach for hours, millions of seashells at your footsteps, your only companions being the sounds of the sea and a few fishing boats passing by.
The hotel is surrounded by a 100 hectares (240 acres) coconut grove. Our terrain is located on a small peninsula. To the west, lies the Gulf of Mexico with breathtaking sunsets, to the east the famous “Ria de Celestun”, a salt water inlet with unique flora and fauna. Because of its importance as the main feeding area for the American Flamingo and countless species of waterfowl and shorebirds it was decreed a Special Biosphere Reserve in 1989.
Our 15 spacious cabañas are embedded in the natural surroundings. All of them offer a wonderful view of the Gulf of Mexico.
Every cabaña has a veranda with 2 hammocks and 2 comfortable armchairs.
The bungalows are equipped with 2 queen size beds, a sitting area with sofa bed, desk, spacious bath with shower, closet and safety deposit box.
For ecological reasons the rooms are not equipped with air conditioning. Instead, 2 ceiling fans, a well-designed air circulation system and the Mayan technology, la palapa (thatched roof), will provide for enough refreshing ventilation.
Our fresh water swimming pool is perfect for relaxation. A pergola provides shade while you read a book, look at the natural surroundings, or listen to the sound of the waterfall.
From the pool you have great views of the dunes and the unaffected beach with its countless seashells.
Enjoy a cool drink while watching the incredible sunset. It takes place right in front of you!

Exclusively designed, interesting day trips are organized departing from our hotel, which explore ecological, archeological, ethnic, historical and cultural aspects. Accompanied by professional guides in comfortable vehicles or boats, groups will always be small. Don’t miss a visit to the spectacular PINK FLAMINGO colony.
Testimonials: Together with another couple we spent five days/four nights (March 9-13, 2002) in your lovely Xixim resort. We had an unforgettable time in this pristine part of the world. The cottages we stayed in were very attractive and the service of the staff was A-1. We took three excursions to the Celestun Reserve and admired the beautiful nature, the bright orange flamingos, the great number of other birds and during our night trip, the crocodilies. Your guide, Alejandro Zib was superb. Not only is this young man extremely knowledgable but in addition he was just great company. We believe that to really see the bird life well , one has to start at the hotel not later than 6 am which we fortunately did. The estuary at that time is just mind buggling and so is the fauna. We also made very long walks on the extensive beach . All in all its was a great experience which we enjoyed to the fullest. Hopefully this beautiful setting will be preserved for ever. The Beijer International Institute of Ecological Economics, one of the Royal Swedish Academy's research institutes, held a research seminar at the Hotel Eco Paraiso in December 2001. The participants were scholars who came from a number of different Latin American countries, and the faculty consisted of Professor Kenneth Arrow, Stanford University, Professor Partha Dasgupta, Cambridge University, Professor Charles Perrings, York University and Professor Karl-Goran Maler from The Beijer Institute. We were all very happy and pleased with our stay at the Eco Paraiso. The hotel is perfect for a small workshop/conference if you want to get away from the rest of the world for a while. We were lucky to have the whole resort to ourselves and we were able to concentrate on our work but also enjoy the beautiful surroundings! The management and staff of the hotel were very helpful and efficient and satisfied all our needs. We can warmly recommend this place to others who are looking for a place to hold a meeting or spend their holiday!

My husband and I rented a house in Celestun for two weeks in June of 2000 for our honeymoon. While in Celestun we came to Eco Paraiso almost daily and fell in love with it's romance, ambiance, and natural beauty. We dined in the restaurant, my husband is a chef, and have never had such fantastic food in a foreign country. We rented the kayaks one day and the staff was so kind to us as we weren't staying at the hotel, to make us a deal of the kayaks and a special crab dinner when we returned. We swam in the gorgeous swimming pool and took pictures under the waterfall. Friends joined us after our first week and we immediately sent them to Eco Paraiso for dinner. Since we left we have been planning another trip and this time we will stay at Eco Paraiso. The staff and the grounds are so unbelievable and the experiences of Celestun, Merida, and the Yucatan were nothing short of spectacular. For those more interested in spending their vacations outside of the hustle and bustle of typical tourist resorts and cities, Eco Paraiso and Celestun are the top choice we've found! c) Between Christmas and New Year and Easter holiday we require the deposit of the whole amount 15 days prior to arrival of the guests. No refund for cancellations after this date. No refund for no-show. |
